Player of the Year
Josiah Monroe, Jr., Bastrop

Stats: Monroe produced 3,029 yards of offense, with 2,314 coming through the air. He had a total of 27 touchdowns and was Bastrop County’s leading rusher and passer.

Honors: District 25-5A Most Valuable Player

Coach Perry:  Josiah is an incredibly gifted athlete. What makes him
special is that individual awards and stats do not motivate him. Josiah is
very competitive and wants to win. He is a team player.

Offensive Player of the Year
Ace Fierro, Sr., Smithville

Stats: Fierro produced 2,381 yards of offense with 1,796 passing yards. He was the leading scorer in Bastrop County with 180 points scored. Fierro had a total of 30 touchdowns.

Honors: 2nd team All-District 25-3A

Offensive Newcomer of the Year
Josh Taylor, Jr., Bastrop

Stats: Taylor had 22 catches for 378 yards with three touchdowns, including a game-winner against Westlake.

Honors:  2nd team All-District 25-5A

Coach Perry:  Josh made big strides during track season that opened the
coaches eyes to his abilities. He has great hands to go along with his
speed.

Defensive Player of the Year
Bernard Blake, Sr., Bastrop

Stats: Blake had 49 total tackles, including 25 solo. He was second on the team in interceptions with 3 and forced one fumble and recovered one. He also had three blocked field goals.

Honors: 1st team All-District 25-5A

Coach Perry: Bernard is a polished athlete that will be able to play corner or safety at the division I level. He works hard on the field and in the classroom to reach his goals and leads through his example,

Defensive Newcomer of the Year
Dylan Scott, Jr., Elgin

Stats: Scott had 57 total tackles, including 22 assisted tackles, in his first year on the Elgin varsity team.

Honors: All-District 17-4A honorable mention

Special Teams Player of the Year
Lee McMillan, Sr., Bastrop

Stats: McMillan had a season-long field goal of 49 yards and had a total of three field goals that were from more than 40-yards out. He made 92 percent of his field goal attempts and 87 percent of his extra points.

Honors: 2nd team All-District 25-5A

Coachh Perry: Lee worked hard during the summer and early football season
to improve his accuracy. Coach  Robert Watson (Soccer) has done a fine job pushing him to improve fundamentally.

Coach of the Year
Gerald Perry, Bastrop

In just his second year, Bastrop head coach Gerald Perry turned Bastrop from the doormat of District 25-5A to district champions. The Bears had a 7-win increase from 2008 and had upsets of powerhouses Pflugerville, Westlake and Austin High. Bastrop even flirted with perfection for the first time since 1966.
