Editor,
As a long-time supporter of the good work being accomplished by Nancy Jensen-Case and by volunteers at Dreamtime Sanctuary, where some 90 animal residents who had previously been abused, neglected or abandoned now receive compassionate care, I appreciated Andy Ross’ article, “Second Chance at animal farm” in the Nov. 26 issue of your newspaper.
Rev. Jensen-Case and her volunteers teach us the true meaning of an ancient Chinese proverb: “Virtue is not knowing, but doing.” Their endeavors help us to better appreciate the deeper meaning of our lives and the significance of the words of Henry Drummond: “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore I can do, or any kindness I can show to any being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
And when we treat others with kindness, particularly in our relationships with vulnerable animals or people down on their luck, we enrich our own lives as well as their lives.
