Charles E. Hartung, former commander of Bastrop’s American Legion Post 533, died Jan. 27. He was born Feb. 2, 1937.
Hartung served as post commander for two and a half years. He served with the United States Air Force for over 21 years, including in Vietnam and was awarded multiple medals for his service.
Services will be held at the American Legion Post 533 (3003 Loop 150 East in Bastrop) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30.
