Take a journey into the history of America with Mattheo Suarez, a living legend in the struggle for civil rights and key member and policy maker of CORE, Congress Of Racial Equality, on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Kerr Community Center, 1801 Walnut St. in Bastrop.
Suraez is a widely sought after speaker and considered by many historians as being one of the remaining heroes of the civil rights era of the 60s. Panel speakers include Pastor Sterling Lands of The Greater Calvary Bible Church in Austin and local musician Hannibal Lokumbe.
The event is sponsored by Hannibal Lokumbe Music in association with The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. There is limited seating and refreshments will be served.
