SAN ANTONIO — Elgin swimmer Ellyn Rivers picked up where her sister — Kate Rivers — left off at the District 17-4A Swimming Championships Friday in San Antonio.
Ellyn Rivers was named the district’s most valuable swimmer and head coach Daryl Remschel was named girls coach of the year for the second year in a row.
Rivers won all gold medals in her four events — the 200 yard medley relay, 400 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly.
Also sweeping her events was sophomore Allegra Amirr, who won top honors in 400 freestyle relay, 200 medley relay, 100 breastroke and 200 individual medley.
Elgin’s girls team won third place overall.
Also bringing home medals were Rosie Corneilus and Mackenzie Cork.
Corneilus won a silver medal in the 200 freestyle and won golds as part of the 400 freestyle and 200 medley relays.
Cork won a silver in the 100 freestyle and was also part of the gold medal relay teams.
Shauna Delmeter won bronze in the 500 freestyle.
On the boys side, the Wildcats finished fourth as a team and will send Kelby Ludwig to regionals after a silver medal finish in the 100 freestyle.
Zach Candelas, Dominick Amirr, Ludwig and Brandon Limbo also qualified for regionals with a third place finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
