Roy R. Jourdan, 53, of Georgetown, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 with his family at his bedside. A memorial service celebrating Roy’s life was held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35 in Georgetown. Roy’s wishes were to be cremated and he will be buried at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.
Roy was born August 17, 1956 in Arlington, Virginia to Leon and Margaret Johnson.  Roy lived in the Bastrop, Texas area for over 30 years.  He worked for the Federal Corrections Institute for many years, retiring in 2003. Roy married Mary P. Blount on the 13th of September 1984 in Bastrop.  He and Mary have lived in the Georgetown area for the past two years. Roy was currently working for Williamson County as a Corrections Officer.  Roy had a love for photography and people. He could artistically capture people in a way that showed the world their inner beauty. Roy also loved to play the harmonica and the drums. He could capture the world’s beauty in his words of poetry. His words will be cherished by many for years to come.
Roy is preceded in death by his father, Leon Johnson and his stepson, James Samuels. Roy leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 25 years, Mary B. Jourdan; mother, Margaret Gollaher; brother, Paul Johnson, and his wife Katherine; sister, Laura Armstrong and her husband Steve; stepdaughter, Merri Lee Chute and her husband Phillip Lee Sprayue; four grandchildren, Sean Samuels and his wife Dalia, Crystal Chute, Dane Chute, and Lacey Chute; six great grandchildren, Ruben, Jordan, Justin, Mary Katherine, William, and Michael; his two loving Chihuahuas, Ginger and Angel; along with many other loving family members and friends.
