ALTAIR – The Smithville Lady Tigers won their first playoff game since 2007 Tuesday night.
Smithville defeated Columbia West Columbia 47-45 in a thriller at Rice Consolidated High School.
Smithville led by three points at halftime, but West Columbia tied it up going into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Tigers (21-9)outscored their opponent 15-13 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Blakelee Saunders scored a team-high 15 points and Jaimie Kadlecek added 13.
Megan Weinheimer scored 12 points and Taylor Weldon and Maygen Washington each scored three.
Smithville will play San Antonio Sam Houston Friday night at 7 p.m. in Luling in the area round of the Region IV-3A playoffs.
