The Pin Oak Creek Wildlife Management Association (WMA) will hold its Spring meeting on Friday, March 5 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Parish Hall, 732 FM 2104, Smithville, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a gumbo supper. Separate shrimp and meat gumbos will be available.
A business meeting will follow as well as a presentation from Meredith Longoria of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department on the aging of deer. The meeting will include a discussion regarding a future spike hunting contest to improve the quality of the herd. Annual membership dues of $15 may be paid and attendees are asked to bring a side dish or dessert. Door prizes will be awarded.
The Pin Oak Creek WMA promotes wildlife conservation through education of its members and encouraging efforts to maintain and promote healthy populations of wildlife. Approximate boundaries for the Pin Oak Creek WMA are east of Texas 21, south of US 290, west of Lee County and north of the Colorado River. Membership is open to anyone interested in wildlife management in or around the Pin Oak Creek WMA.
