For a lucky 40 Bastrop children, spring break won’t consist of sitting around wondering what to do with the free time.
Thanks to an initiative from the city of Bastrop Parks Board, the city will pick up the tab for 40 children who live inside the city limits, ages 6-10, to attend a fun-filled three-day Spring Break camp to be held at Bastrop State Park. This first-ever event is for the first 40 children who sign up.
The camp will be held from, March 17-19 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day. A bus will pick up campers at either Kerr Park or the Boys & Girls Club on Linden Street.
Campers can expect to spend their time learning outdoor sports like kayaking, fishing and geocaching. Additionally, games and crafts will be part of the daily fare.
Campers should bring their own lunch, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen and outdoor-appropriate clothing.
Registration is due by Friday, March 5.
The camp is sponsored by Texas Parks and Wildlife, Boys & Girls Club of Bastrop, City of Bastrop and Friends of the Lost Pines State Parks.
