Two benefits are on tap for local residents who are facing hardship.
A benefit for Marie and Hayden Haberer, who lost their home in a house fire on Jan. 9, will be held this Sunday, Feb. 28 at Watterson Hall at 1179 Watterson Rd. The Haberers are members of Sacred Heart Church in Rockne.
There will be a free-will donation for a BBQ lunch with all the trimmings, beginning at 11 a.m. Plates-to-go will also be available as well. There will be a live auction at 2 p.m. Auction items will be taken at Watterson Hall beginning at 10 a.m. If you would like to donate an auction item before the day of the event or you have any questions, call Melissa Voigt at 332-6171, Nell Rose Fohn at 497-7629 or Kathy Carriger at 581-1959.
Reeder benefit
On March 13 there will be a benefit for Jacquie Reeder of Rockne, who is currently fighting her third bout with cancer, to help her offset medical expenses. The benefit will be held at the VFW on Hwy. 20.
“Although Jacquie works when she can, her treatments are making her lose a lot of time at work and she needs help with her medical expenses,” Voigt said.
From 5 to 7:30 p.m., there will be a BBQ dinner with all the trimmings (plates-to-go are also available), a live auction at 7 p.m. and after the auction there will be live music by Herman Goertz, Mark Lee and friends. To donate auction items or for further information, call Pete Hoffman at 284-0357, Robert Henderson at 321-8638 or Melissa Voigt at 332-6171.
