It’s the little things that can make coaches go crazy.
Bastrop left five runners on base in scoring position and committed six errors, which led to four unearned Pflugerville runs, as the Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Bears 9-2 Wednesday night at Lady Bear Field.
“If we play an error free ball game we win,” said head coach Gary Currie. “We go up 1-0 and then one error costs us four runs.”
In the bottom of the third inning, Bastrop’s Emily Tarango scored on a Pflugerville error to put the Lady Bears up 1-0.
In the top of the fourth, an error on a routine ground ball turned into four runs.
The Lady Panthers added two more runs on a RBI-single by Haley Outon and an RBI-double from Brittany Harley that put the Lady Panthers up 6-1.
Bastrop fought back in the bottom of the inning.
Brittany French drove in Jessica Cooke from second, but that was it for the Lady Bears’ offense.
In the top of the seventh, Outon smacked the ball over the centerfield wall for a solo home run and then errors again haunted Bastrop.
Jordan Mundine also pitched a complete game and had three strikeouts while giving up three earned runs.
