The Bastrop Bears ended their district losing streak at four games Tuesday night as they beat the Anderson Trojans in extra innings by the score of 2-1 at Bear Field.
Bastrop took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after outfielder Justin Froncek stole twice before successfully stealing home plate to put the Bears up 1-0.
The Trojans answered in the fifth as Evan Brown scored off a two out single by Andre Wheeler.
After four innings of scoreless baseball, Bastrop loaded the bases after a Froncek single and two intentional walks from Anderson’s Evan Brown. Colton Tucker delivered the walk off single for the Bears, driving in Froncek to give Bastrop its first district win of the season.
Pitching was the dominating factor for both clubs. Andersons’ Carter Lauca tallied 13 strikeouts, allowed two hits and one earned run in eight innings. Bastrop’s Kegan Johnson earned his third win of the season, striking out nine batters, allowing eight hits and no earned runs to go with his complete game. Froncek finished the game batting 1-4 with two runs and three steals.
