Football: KXAN finalizes televised game
Wednesday, May 12, 2010 |
KXAN General Manager Eric Lassberg confirmed Tuesday morning that an agreement was reached to televise the Elgin-Bastrop football game in October.
The game will be televised live from BISD Memorial Stadium on KXAN’s sister station, KBVO-TV.
Due to the game being televised, the Bastrop-Elgin rivalry game will be moved from it’s originally scheduled date of Oct. 29 to Thursday, Oct. 28.
The game time will also be moved to 7 p.m. to accommodate television.
“This is going to be a positive thing for Bastrop football,” said Bastrop head coach Gerald Perry. “Everyone from Waco to San Antonio will get to see what Bastrop football is all about.”
Bastrop and Elgin haven’t met on a football field since 1989, a game in which Bastrop won 27-0.
“This is good for both schools and both programs,” said Elgin head coach Danny Lauve. “It’s going to be a good district game. Coach Perry and his staff has done a great job with his program.”
The game is part of a season long package of Central Texas football on KBVO-TV.
One game per week will be highlighted and broadcast live.
“We are going to have a huge crowd and a great atmosphere,” Perry said. “It’s going to be a friendly rivalry.”
