The Bastrop Bears will get their first chance to return to the State 7-on-7 Tournament for the second straight season.
Bastrop will travel to Cedar Park Saturday for the Round Rock State Qualifying Tournament.
It won’t be easy as the Bears are pooled with defending Class 5A 7-on-7 State Champion Stony Point, Cedar Park and Belton.
“We got a tough little pool,” said head coach Gerald Perry. “We like 7-on-7  because it gives us a chance to run our offense and it puts athletes against athletes.”
Bastrop will take 20 players to Cedar Park.
Perry and his coaching staff will be just spectators as the 7-on-7 rules prohibit instruction from coaches.
