Jose G. Rodriguez, 89 of Bastrop, died Friday, May 21, 2010. He was born Sept. 20, 1920 to Victor and Ingnacia Rodriguez in Harlingen.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart Victory Ribbon.

He is survived by children, Jesusa, Minerva, Candy Josie, Johnny, Maria and Cindy; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria, daughter, Inez and son, Ernesto.

Funeral services were Monday, May 24. Interment was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
