The boys class of the 2010 Bastrop County Fab 5 reads more like a list of athletes that had breakout junior seasons, than formal introductions.
The five seniors-to-be that make up the class had junior seasons that put them on recruiting maps all over Texas and parts of the rest of the country.
Josiah Monroe needs no introduction and went from future star to one of the top football recruits in Central Texas with his performance against one of the most storied programs (Westlake) in Texas.
Then there is Jordan Roach, the 2010 Bastrop County Player of the Year in boys basketball in his first season with the varsity team. Roach was only second behind Monroe in scoring and led Bastrop County in assists and steals.
There are also athletes that you may not have heard about like Smithville’s Aaron Rodriguez, who is a standout on the baseball and football teams. Rodriguez was Bastrop County’s batting champion for baseball with his .407 batting average.
These five athletes are the cream of the crop of boy athletes and are the very best Bastrop County has to offer to college athletic programs.
In short, if we were building a boys athletic program in Bastrop County, these five athletes is where we would start.
Here is a look of the 2010 Class of the Bastrop County Fab 5:

JORDAN ROACH
Jordan Roach made up one of the best backcourts in District 25-5A along with Josiah Monroe.
Roach helped turned around a struggling boys basketball program and had the Bears in the playoff picture until the final game of the season.
He was Bastrop County’s second leading scorer, averaging 18.8 points per game, and was the second leading shot blocker as a point guard.
Roach was an unselfish player and led the county in assists (116) and steals (102) in his first varsity season.
Academically, Roach excels in the classroom and is starting to get interest from big-time schools like the University of Miami and Oklahoma State.
Roach said his favorite memories, so far, are playing against Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings his freshman year of high school and hitting the game-winning shot against Anderson.
