Luna led Elgin back to the Class 4A soccer playoffs and led the team in scoring. Luna was was selected to the TASCO Class 4A All-State second team.

TRACK ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
JORDAN RUNNELS • SR • SMITHVILLE
Runnels became the second Smithville athlete in as many years to reach the UIL State Track and Field Championships. Runnels was the District 25-3A champion and Region IV-3A runner up in the triple jump, which punched his ticket to state.

GOLFER OF THE YEAR
KRAIG ZIMMERHANZEL • FR • SMITHVILLE
Smithville freshman golfer Kraig Zimmerhanzel shot rounds of 79 and 75 at the Region IV-3A Golf Championships in Corpus Christi to place fifth overall and barely missed the cut for the state tournament by five strokes.

XC RUNNER OF THE YEAR
MICHAEL BARRIENTOS • JR • BASTROP
Barrientos was Bastrop’s top runner at the District 25-5A Championships. Barrientos placed 22nd overall in a disappointing finish for the boys team. The boys placed sixth overall and missed qualifying for regionals for the first time in seven years.
