Elgin shortstop Megan Moore and third baseman Shelbi Swenson, the 2010 co-Bastrop County Softball Players of the Year, were selected to the 2010 Collin Street Bakery Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Softball team.
Swenson, a sophomore, was a fourth-team selection at third base and Moore, a senior, was a co-selection at shortstop with Mansfield Legacy’s Briana Walker.
Swenson was the second leading hitter in Bastrop County with a .456  batting average. The sophomore led the county in doubles (15) and  triples (5) and was third in RBIs (18) and runs (30). Swenson was also one of the strongest defensive players, combining with Moore for just eight errors in 207 innings of play. She was the 2009 Bastrop County Rookie of the Year.
Moore had nearly a duplicate year from 2009. The senior posted a .425 batting average and was second in the county in doubles (9) and triples (4) and led the county in RBIs (21) and runs (32). Moore was also solid defensively and had just four errors in 207 innings of play.
Swenson was recently named as the Austin American-Statesman’s Top 50 Athletes in Central Texas and also plays volleyball.
Moore was selected to play in the 2010 Greater Austin Area All-Star Game and will play softball at Southeastern University in Louisiana in the spring.
The all-state softball team is voted on by sports writers across Texas.
