An 84-year-old Bastrop woman was killed this past Friday on Texas 95 after being ejected from her vehicle in a two-car collision.

Mary Lou Rumbo, of Bastrop, was pronounced dead on the scene at around 4:01 p.m. Friday, according to reports from the Bastrop Police Department.

Star Flight and EMS were on scene at the time of her death.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Texas 95 as Rumbo was exiting the Bastrop Veterinary Hospital in her Dodge minivan.

As she was pulling out of the clinic, her vehicle failed to yield to a Ford truck traveling southbound on 95, according to reports. The truck struck the driver side of Rumbo’s vehicle, causing her to be ejected.

Police did not release whether Rumbo was wearing a seatbelt.

Rumbo’s dog, Dudley, who was also in the van, reportedly died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old male was treated at the scene of the accident and released.
