2 The Bastrop County Democratic Party has issued an open invitation to a Sausage and Ice Cream Social at the Kerr Community Center, 1308 Walnut St. in Bastrop to kick off the first-ever county coordinated campaign by the Democrats on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Special guests at the social will be U. S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett, District Judge Chris Duggan, County Judge Ronnie McDonald and Texas House District 17 Candidate Pati Jacobs. Complimentary Elgin sausage, cold drinks and Blue Bell ice cream while they last to all comers.
Live music will be provided by local musicians J.R. Ancira, Terry Moore and Slim Bawb.

Ice cream social or ice cream socialism…..which is it?
I just want to thank everyone who came out and for those who created the event. It was a wonderful experience and I’m ready to knock on doors and call voters. With these candidates on the ballot, Democrats will win big in 2010.
