Margaret Fern Rhodes Winfrey, 97, of Llano, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, in Llano with her family by her side. She was born Oct. 14, 1912 in Ballinger to Henry obit winfreyand Maude Irene Buchanan Rhodes. She met her husband-to-be, Crawford Winfrey, in high school.  They married on Oct. 21, 1933. Following WW II, they moved to Llano, where they opened and operated The Man’s Store on the town square; Margaret was the bookkeeper and telegraph operator. He preceded her in death in 1994.

She is survived by daughters, Janice Crenwelge of Llano, Nancy (Tom) Scott and Ann (Larry) Brown, all of Bastrop; sons, Kirk (Marilyn) of Llano and Lin (Jan) Winfrey of Fredericksburg; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano. Burial will follow at the Llano City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Llano First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 385, Llano, TX 78643 or to the Llano County Special Opportunity Center, 206 Main, Llano, TX 78643.
