ELGIN — Kelsey Harkins showed how hard she has worked in the offseason as the junior led Elgin to a 25-20, 25-14, 25-7 win over Taylor Tuesday to open the season.
Harkins led Elgin with nine kills, 12 digs, two blocks and five service aces, proving that the road to the Lady Cats’ district title still goes through Elgin.
“She is very much improved,” said head coach Hollie Smith-Huston. “She worked hard in the offseason, playing club ball and it’s paying off for her.”
Senior middle blocker Hillary Adams also had a good match with eight kills, two digs and a block.
Kelsey Markham provided 21 assists to go with her eight digs and three kills.
