The Lost Pines Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution’s annual genealogy workshop will be Saturday, Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First National Bank, 312 Main St., in Smithville.
Registration and sign-in are from 8:30-9 a.m. Cost to attend the workshop is $15, which includes lunch and handouts. Pre-registration before Aug. 16 is strongly encouraged, since the workshop is filling up very fast. Registration requests may be mailed to Fran Godwin, 226 Schaefer Blvd, Bastrop, TX 78602, along with a $15 check made out to “Lost Pines Chapter NSDAR.”
Speaker Ella Sheffield is a well-known genealogist who has taught genealogy at the College of the Mainland in Texas City, Galveston College, Smithville High School, for Elderhostel programs and has held genealogy workshops and seminars throughout the United States.
She has completed the National Genealogical Society genealogy course. In Daughters of the American Revolution, she has served on both the national and state speakers staff and held many offices at national, state and chapter levels.
Subjects for the workshop are: “Miles and Miles of Proof – Do I need it?”; “Researching Georgia”; “Researching Tennessee”; and “Quaker Records.”
