The Bastrop County Democratic Party will host Jim Hightower, national radio commentator, writer, public speaker, and author on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Jerry Fay Wilhelm Performing Arts Center, 1401 Cedar Street in Bastrop, at 6:30 p.m. Local and state-wide candidates will attend and be available to voters for question and answer sessions. The Peterson Brothers Band of Bastrop will perform for the entertainment of attendees. Tickets are $10 (requested donation) and available at the Democratic office at 129B Old Austin Highway (512) 985-6591.  The office is open daily from 2-5 p.m.
