Joseph “J.R.” Robert Waneck, 80, of Rosanky, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010. He was born on the banks of Sandy Creek to Martha (Beck) Waneck and Joe Edmund Waneck. He was one of six children (four sisters and one brother). His parents, three sisters and brother preceded him in death. JR served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Rockne-String Prairie Council.

Survivors include wife, Becky Oliver; sons, Roger (Jan) Wanack and Chris (Kerri) Oliver; daughters, Melissa Ann Schmidt, Lisa (Don) Schmidt and Suzy (Wesley) Pearson; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A rosary was at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in String Prairie.

Funeral Mass was Thursday, Aug. 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial following at String Prairie Cemetery.
