AUSTIN — The Elgin Lady Cats opened the Westwood Tournament in Austin knowing they were about to face some of the best competition in the state, including two regional finalists in their pool.
On Thursday, Elgin (3-4) opened the tournament with a 25-16, 26-24 win over Mission-Sharyland before taking Region IV-5A finalists Westwood to three sets.
The Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Cats 23-25, 25-19, 25-22.
In the third game, Elgin lost to Mansfield Legacy 25-19, 25-21.
On Friday, Elgin dropped their first two games against some of San Antonio’s best, falling to Johnston 25-16, 25-14 and Reagan 25-9, 25-16.
The Lady Cats finally picked up a win, defeating Denton Guyer 25-21, 25-20.
