SMITHVILLE — Linsay Carver has been a pleasant surprise for first-year head coach Kimberly Paisley.
Coming off a match where she had 14 kills, the newcomer Carver had seven kills in a 13-15, 19-17 tie with Flatonia in Smithville’s first match of the Lady Tiger Invitational at Tiger Gym in Smithville.
With both sets going the distance, Carver produced four kills in a dramatic second set.
It was Madison Hannusch who closed out the second set, recording the final three kills of the match to secure the win.
The 6-foot-1 Hannusch had six blocks in the match, which gave her a total of 11 over the Lady Tigers first two matches. She also contributed three kills.
And she did it effortlessly.
Setter Trina Deyo, who had eight assists in a 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 loss to Thrall on Tuesday, had 11 in Thursday’s game with Flatonia.
