AUSTIN — Dylan Scott led Elgin with 181 yards of offense and lifted the Wildcats to their first win of the season, a 49-37 defeat of Austin Lanier at Nelson Stadium in Austin.
Scott completed 6-of-13 pass attempts for 119 yards and a touchdown while adding 62 yards on the ground, scoring two touchdowns on the way.
Da’Rick Nolan led Elgin’s rushing attack with 83 yards and two touchdowns of his own.
The Wildcats (1-1) never let up despite leading for most of the game, putting together 592 yards of total offense, nearly 200 more yards than the Vikings (0-2)  had all night.
Elgin allowed a 75-yard touchdown run by Viking running back K’len Britton, but were able to give their offense ample room as they dominated the Lanier defense throughout the evening.
Charlestin Matthews left his mark on the field as well, with a 16 yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to help seal the win with eight minutes left in the game.
Elgin will hit the road for the third game in a row next week as they travel to Taylor.
