ELGIN — The Elgin Wildcats can move the football.
Elgin (1-1) hopes to continue that trend when it drives up Texas 95 to take on rival Taylor (1-1) Friday at Taylor Memorial Stadium.
Both teams are coming off their first win of the season, but there is still a big difference between the two teams.
Elgin has scored 70 points while producing 965 yards of offense, led behind quarterback Dylan Scott (363 passing yards, 6 TDs) and Bastrop County leading rusher Da’Rick Nolan (269 rushing yards).
Taylor, on the other hand, has struggled offensively, scoring just 35 points in two games while producing just 500 yards of offense.
Taylor was hit hard by graduation, but the last two meetings between these two teams have been decided in the final quarter.
Elgin won in 2008 by three while Taylor got its revenge in 2009 with a nine-point victory.
