Drought dropping Simsboro aquifer

The Simsboro aquifer is showing stress from one of the worst droughts ever recorded in Central Texas, according to Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District General Manager Joe Cooper, who said that electronic monitoring data indicates the aquifer has declined seven to eight feet in Bastrop County and up to 18 feet in Lee County in the past two months.
