Outlook: Smithville is riding high after making the postseason in 2011 for the first time in school history. The Tigers return Skyler Gilstrap (.397 BA) along with a lot of key players that led them to the area round of the playoffs. Smithville did lose Bastrop County Player of the Year Aaron Rodriguez and 2010 Player of the Year Dylan Hancock. However, the hardest hit area may be the loss of the Tigers’ entire pitching rotation, including Brian Smith. Head coach Ryan Moerbe said pitching was still going to be “solid,” but losing two starters from last year will be hard to replace.
