The 2010 Bastrop Citizens Police Academy class will begin a nine-week program on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Bastrop Police Department, 104 Grady Tuck Lane.

The Bastrop County Democratic Party has issued an open invitation to a Sausage and Ice Cream Social at the Kerr Community Center, 1308 Walnut St. in Bastrop to kick off the first-ever county coordinated campaign by the Democrats on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
4-H cake auction supports many programs

The Bastrop County 4-H Program will sponsor its annual cake auction during homecoming in Bastrop on Saturday, Aug.7 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Bastrop. 4-H youth from all areas of Bastrop County, including Smithville, Elgin, Bastrop, Paige, McDade, Rockne, Hills Prairie and Red Rock, will be baking cakes to be auctioned at the annual fundraiser.
